Family Day – A Cruise To Peppermint Bay

This time of year can be filled with Christmas events, catch-ups with friends and family, gift shopping and (normally for me) lots of markets. However, today we took time out to spend the day as a family and use a Christmas gift we were given last year (I know, seriously the first chance we have had to use use it).

The gift, a trip for my family of four on the Peppermint Bay Cruise; heading south on a 1.5hr tour, enjoying a four course lunch at the Peppermint Bay restaurant and the return trip home. Here they are waiting to board.

The meal consisting of four courses was delicious. It featured produce from around southern Tasmania.

My son wanted to try his first oyster (raw) and he was an immediate fan. Not the usual 8.5 year olds taste. OystersAnd with a view like this while dining, I felt very relaxed.
ViewWe had just enough time after lunch to stretch our legs and explore the gardens. Then it was time to say goodbye and jump back on board the boat for our return trip.

If you live locally or are travelling to this gorgeous state of Tasmania, I would definitely make the time to include the Peppermint Bay cruise to your itinerary. Its a lovely way to view the Derwent River, hear some of the history and sample the amazing produce this state has on offer.

The best part of the day…was spending it with those three people that mean so much to me. In this crazy time of year, make sure you make time to enjoy time those that mean the most to you.
