10 Delicious Paleo Christmas Gift Ideas

This time of year many people are baking or making tasty little treats to gift or share with family for the festive season. It’s such a lovely thing to receive a handmade gift, something baked with love. That is, as long as it’s not filled with processed grains and sugars.

The festive season can be hard to avoid those foods that you have chosen to remove from your diet. For many people it takes an extra effort to resist. So receiving a girt made with real food ingredients shows the extra care and effort has been put into that gift. Here I have put together 10 recipes that would make great homemade gifts. Things I’d love to receive myself.

Paleo Stuffed Eggplants (Dairy Free)

Its winter and its cold and rainy here today. The perfect weather for comfort food. I’m not talking ‘junk’ comfort food. I’m talking those family meals that leave you feeling warm from the inside out. They make you think of a certain family member, or shared meals that bought you joy. This recipe makes me feel just like that.

Paleo Cacao Mug Cake

We have knuckled down and been eating very clean paleo for the past week. Hubby and I both thought we needed to tidy up our eating and concentrate on portions, sweeteners, and making sure that we are getting enough carbohydrates, good fats and proteins. We have both up’d our efforts at the gym in the attempt to tone things up a bit more.

For me, I probably wasn’t getting enough fuel for the demands I have been putting on my body. For hubby, the balance probably wasn’t right and he found himself wanting to snack more. I don’t find these times too hard, but hubby can. He’s done very well so far, but last night he was struggling after ‘one of those days’. He admitted he really wanted some chocolate…the devil sugar monster was whispering in his head as it does for a lot of us. More often than not, we turn to food when we are stressed, emotional or tired. Am I right?

PBC (Paleo Baked Chicken) – Crispy Chicken Drumsticks.

If you were a fan of that popular fried chicken take away before going paleo, then this recipe is for you. PBC is short for Paleo Baked Chicken, a healthy and delicious fried chicken alternative. I originally came up with this recipe for my kids as a bit of a fun snack, but they have enjoyed it for dinner, for lunch, and also cold in their lunch boxes. Its one of those yummy foods that you might struggle to have just one.

Drumsticks are such an affordable and versatile cut of chicken to work with. They bake, roast, or slow cook beautifully, and are packed with flavour. The meat stays moist when cooked and they also happen to be dirt cheap. I can buy a dozen drumsticks for around $4 – $5 and feed my family of four, plus have leftovers for lunch boxes. You could of course use this recipe on other cuts like the wings or marylands. I know that price can be a factor for many families. Opting for cheaper cuts of quality meat is possibly the best way of saving a buck while still managing to eat paleo.
